Sawkille Company

Pretty excited to have come across Rhinebeck, NY-based Sawkille Company. Self-described as "Rural American Design," the partnership has produced a suite of furniture that represents a firm appreciation for honest craftsmanship, all the while drifting intriguingly away from the conventional Shaker design language. It also doesn't hurt that one of the founding designers is fellow RISD alumni, Jonah Meyer....For more, visit Sawkille Company. Discovered first on Remodelista.

H House by Budapesti Muhely

While perusing designboom this morning, I was luck enough to dIscover this inspiring country home by Hungarian firm Budapesti Muhely. The 180 square meter home was completed in 2011 and derives its form from both an adherence to strict zoning (one which requires a gabled roof loyal with the agriculture architecture of the area) and the family's need for space. The engineering of the patio's roof structure is particularly striking. For more visit designboom.

Leasing the High Life in Bushwick

Spotted in the New York Times Home and Garden section, this converted loft in Bushwick, Brooklyn is a testament to what a 10 year commitment, and god knows how many hours on the L train, can get you. The 2,700 sq. ft. rented space is home to two couples, comprised of two architects and two fashion designers. The results are obvious; decorated with a mix of found objects and obvious splurges. I highly encourage you to check out the full article on the NYTimes. Photography by Bruce Buck for the NYTimes.

The Baker Cottage

I recently came across some new images of Julie and John Baker's lakeside cottage and was pretty taken by the photos. Their blog Kitka documents their life as owners of Mjolk, their Toronto-based design store, their time spent refining their home(s), and, as of recently, their baby girl. I highly encourage everyone to check it out.

OConnor and Houle Architects

Discovered on Remodelista, I was immediately impressed by Melbourne's own OConnor and Houle architects. By focusing on a diversity and richness of materials paired with thoughtful spacial interplay - not to mention a fairly obvious adherence to fine craftsmanship - every space appears composed just so. For more visit OConnor and Houle or Remodelista to view the original article. Photography by Earl Carter, Trevor Mein, and Mikkel Vang
