Scandinavian Cottage by Maria Masgard

I finally found this project in its entirety after citing a fragment in my previous "Beach Retreat Inspiration" post. Spotted on My Scandinavian Retreat, the home, located in Dalnarna, Sweden, was designed for the architects father. But, more importantly, it strikes me as absolutely perfect. I want it.

Dollahite House by Rural Theory

Found on The Brick House, this Austin home by Rural Theory (built by and for company co-founder Blake Dollahite), speaks very clearly of Austin style. It 's difficult to point to exactly what is so "Austin" about it -- The limestone gravel? The Rusty fence? The corrugated roof? -- but it definitely exudes a central Texan feel. Beach Retreat Inspiration

Have recently become an avid fan of THE BRICK HOUSE, a plethora of architecture, interiors, et cetera, I have subconsciously compiled a cache of inspiration for my pipe dream of an island cottage (Plus a few images from other blos). My criteria are: 1) Bright, sunny, and cool, 2) easy to build with limited infrastructure, 3) hurricane-proof and, 4) easy to clean. If it's not already clear, this has been an entirely self-serving post.

Spotted on Remodelista, from the firm of Kirsten Gabriels and James Webb in Amsterdam. I love the dynamic scale of the apartment and, of course, the minimalist sensibility.

Harry the Lamp

From the Spanish studio Porcuatro: The "Harry" lamp. In my experience, the majority of multi-function home furnishings seem to really only do one thing well and a few other things, well, poorly. And this is exactly why the Harry lamp stood out to me. The admirably simple design permits 1) conventional indoor use, 2) staked into the ground for outdoor use, and 3) use of the shade and fixture independently of the base. Find out more at Porcuatro.
