Some SF Inspiration

Some morning inspiration from the West coast. As you might expect, we're kind of into this kitchen belonging to Sirima Sataman of Ink Paper Plate Press. Her deft organizing skills make for a charmingly full but tidy space (We're looking at you, spice rack...). And we can't complain about all that color either. Via Apartment Therapy.

An Uhuru Favorite

We were recently reminded of our fondness for our Brooklyn neighbors and furniture company, Uhuru. At the root of said fondness is undoubtedly, their Stoolen series. Assembled from locally-scavanged scraps of wood and steel, the stools have served us as example of successful, reductive design. For more, visit Uhuru.

More from Stockholm: The Home of Stylist Thomas Lingsell

Parquet floors and white paint can do no wrong. And the thoughtful pops of color with a pleasantly surprising amount of foliage doesn't hurt either. (Currently for sale for those of you on the hunt in Stockholm!)

More more visit emmas designblogg or the real estate listing at Fantastic Frank. See Lingsell's work here.

Orient Artist Studio

Located on the north-fork of Long Island, the Orient Artist Studio from NYC-based Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects is one of the first houses in the US to achieve PassiveHouse certification. And on top of its efficient building envelope, reclaimed siding, and solar arrays, its pretty easy on the eyes. Nestled in the sand and the pines, the weathered wood exterior contains ample open space and loads of natural light. Hard to imagine a better environment to reflect on your own creativity. To find out more about the project, visit Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects.

Fionda

With summer approaching, we have outdoor dining on the mind. Match that with our fondness for Jasper Morrison, and it's no surprise we are into the new indoor-outdoor chair, Fionda. Set to launch this week in Milan, Fionda follows in Morrison's tradition of distilling normalcy to its essence, drawing on the form of the folding camp chair, based on a canvas sling suspended on a folding base. Fionda's design is meant to resolve the uncomfortable forward-facing "X" found in many traditional folding chair designs, all the while finding that elegance in simplicity that Morrison has become famous for. At Home With Saa Antic

Spotted on the ever inspiring emmas designblog, we took note of this Stockholm apartment belonging to interior stylist Saa Antic. In his successful effort to maximize the small space, Antic uses mirror to open up the kitchen and provide more light - Not a bad idea for any small space designers out there. A spare pallet and restrained midcentury furniture make for a perfectly scaled space. See Antic's work here. Photos by Jonas Ingerstedt

Harvest Your Balcony

We've always been advocates of keeping your vegetables as close to home as possible. So when we came across this balcony-sized greenhouse from Finnish company Kekkila, we were instant admirers - perfect for sheltering a fresh supply of herbs through the winter. The cabinets are made from Finnish pines and feature a self-regulating vent, to keep your veggie temperate, as well as drawer-storage below. Here's hoping they will be available stateside come next planting season.

For us domestic shoppers, it is only available in white, through Hasselfors. Spotted on Remodelista,
