In an effort to create the feeling of a village, architect Yoshichika Takagi created a series of independent houses all sharing an indoor space. The intended effect was to create a sense of the outdoors within the home itself. While not practically different than a loft, it seems like an ideal solution for a multi-generational family or a large group of roomates, with each little house being allowed its own style.
