We've featured Mount Fuji Architects work in the past with our review of their
M3-KG house, so we were excited to see their
Near house in Remodelista's
10 Favorite: Small and Skinny Houses in Japan. The restrained scale of the home is such that the architects describe the 75.3sqm structure as more akin to a piece of furniture than an piece of architecture -"something near to a house." The pleasantly sparse street-facing facade is balanced by two stories of glass facing the rear courtyard. And to alleviate the modest square footage, the interior is rich with shelving with the overall color pallet of light woods and neutral tones steers the interior away from feeling too sterile.
